THE E-Z Que Evolution of the Revolution Story

E-Z Que, Inc. has been manufacturing high end stainless Cradle Rotisseries for almost a quarter of a century. Our company started out as a small family operation staffed by friends. Today most of our employees are those same hard sold converts. You could say we are all long time experienced field testers of our product lines. John uses our backyards and grills and the Research and Development Department - we all get fed very well. We have fun too. We are always coming up with innovative ideas. One year we cooked over 1,200 lbs of every variety of meat on “THE GUINNESS” World’s Longest Rotisserie, and have cooked a whole buffalo and ostrich on our “World’s Largest Rotisserie”. Everyday is a barbecue at E-Z Que, SERIOUSLY!

It all started back in 1982 when our CEO, John Waltman, an already successful businessman was having a summer picnic to thank his employees, customers and friends for a great season. The party was to be a grand celebration for 500 - 600 guests with bands, rides and a grand banquet with a rotisserie pig as the center attraction. He rented an old-style chain driven spit-rod to cook a whole hog for everyone to enjoy. Right away it was obvious that cooking with a spit-rod was a hassle. The hog was trussed, tied, speared, and as the spit-rod manufacture recommended, it even took chicken wire and constant adjustment to hold it onto the spit rod. It took a couple of men to hoist the rod and pig onto the spit.  Then the chain driving the motor broke. It took a crew to watch it every second. As the chain was being fixed yet again the rendering fat caught fire and charred the hog. Shortly after the hog started cooking the meat started to shred, allowing the expensive hog  – AND everyone’s excitement to fall into the fire. There had to be a better way. That is how the E-Z Que Cradle Rotisserie was born. That very moment John faced the crowd and vowed that next year’s party would not be ruined, nor would anyone EVER need to go through the same hassle or humiliation to have a perfectly cooked and beautifully presented meal. John sold his business, went on a mission, and spent the next year designing and perfecting the very first E-Z Que Cradle Rotisserie. Unveiled at the next party it rolled out a glistening, juicy hog, and as John will jokingly say, “It didn’t need to be bound and gagged” to keep it cooking. The crowd eagerly devoured the golden tender treat and cheered in delight.

For centuries people were still cooking with the same barbaric method since primitive man put meat on a stick. (Our mascot is a sad Neanderthal named "Spit Rod" who only has a stick to turn his meat. We feel sorry for him, so we let him hang around.) It was quite obvious that there was something very special about the concept and state-of-the-art design. Nothing like the all stainless E-Z Que Cradle had ever been seen before. Not only could it cook a whole hog, it could cook any variety, shape or size of meat – foods that could never fit on a spit-rod, too. The Meat-On Lock Arm design completely eliminated the need to wire, tie, truss or spear the meat. It also allowed a hog to cook more evenly and quicker. The Cradle design allowed the meat to self balance, eliminating the clunky counter weight that put stress on the spit-rod motor. It also allowed for one man operation and easy removal of meats without having to disassemble the entire spit rod.  It was such a success that everyone wanted to rent it for their parties. Soon it became the choice of professionals, institutions and caterers. John’s motto became “Taking Rotissing in to the 21st Century. Soon chefs, professional kitchens and celebrities asked for custom designed products for their backyards grills and custom hearths. Our original commercial charcoal rotisserie products are now in every corner of the world. Even today those same original Cradle Rotisseries are in use. As John had envisioned, in 1999 the E-Z Que Cradle Rotisserie was named “NEW PRODUCT OF THE YEAR” by the barbecue industry and people now refer to John as “The Rotisserie King”.

E-Z Que is now the industry leader and largest patent holder of new concepts in the advancement of the rotisserie, taking outdoor cooking into the NEW MILLENNIUM. The same revolutionary concept and design that began with our 6 ft. pig rotisserie and flat grill, that  become known as “The Most Innovative Concept In Outdoor Cooking Since Man First Discovered Fire” has revolutionized the barbecue industry. It is now custom designed and available for most popular top name backyard gas & charcoal grills. Our newest product, The HOBO battery powered Trail Blazer won the 2004 VESTA Barbecue Industry Product of the Year. Now no matter what your cooking preference or life style, everyone can enjoy an E-Z Que.
